Five questions about how the part is used. The answer you get back is the grade your drawing should name, and the reason why.

1. Sheet thickness as supplied Stays as supplied and is a functional dimension Both faces get machined, so supplied gauge does not matter

2. Is any cut edge or face viewed through, lit or backlit? Yes — clarity affects how the part is judged No — the part is hidden, painted, laminated or internal

3. Will the part be solvent bonded to another acrylic component? Yes — a bonded joint is part of the design No — mechanical fastening or standalone part

4. Nominal section thickness Under 3 mm 3 mm to 6 mm Above 6 mm

5. Will the part be thermoformed after machining? Yes No

This selector applies the property differences between the two production routes. It does not replace a material specification: your drawing still needs the standard, category, grade and supplied condition, because “acrylic” on its own is quoted as whichever stock is cheaper to source.
